Learning Objectives:

To instill awareness about the importance of Industrial SHE (Safety, Health and Environmental Protection). Understanding the basic laws and regulations in the field of safety, understanding the concept of risk, different types of hazards, disruption of health, the environmental impact analysis, etc.

Syllabus:
  1. Introduction to Regulation and Standards: Hazard identification and characterization, Consequence of hazard, Safety and hazard regulation, Environmental regulation;
  2. Risk Perception, Assessment and Management: Risk perception and assessment, Risk analysis and management, Fault tree analysis;
  3. Machinery hazards: Life cycle of a machine, Types of hazards, Machine guarding;
  4. Noise hazards: Mechanism of hearing, Hearing disorder, Properties of sound, Measurement of workplace sound, Other vibration effect;
  5. Process safety hazard: Industrial process design and operation, Mechanical integrity of process equipment, Process hazard analysis, Hazard analysis technique;
  6. Fire and explosion hazard: Fire triangle, Fuel, Flamability limit and flame propagation, Fire and combustion product hazard, Fire Prevention and extinguishment;
  7. Electrical hazard: Electrical terminology, Electrical equipment, Electrical injuries; Toxicology in the Workplace: Route of body entry, Dose response relationship, Acute and Chronic effect, Permissible exposure limits;
  8. Enviromental protection: Air pollution, Water pollution, Land pollution, Pollution prevention, Environmental protection control processes;
  9. Hazard communication to employees: Goal of hazard communication, Material safety data sheets (MSDS), Understanding the MSDS, Industrial process design and operation;
  10. Personal Protective equipment (PPE): Types of PPE, Selection of PPE, Training for PPE use, Industrial process design and operation;
  11. Safety audits, incident and emergency planning, Planning a safety audit, Incident investigation, Emergency planning and response
